The first element of these socks is the star-rose pattern from Northern European knitting. Combined with the lusekofte, a traditional Norwegian sweater, dating from the 19th century. The name translates as “lice jacket” after its black and white diagonal check pattern, and is colored black, grey and white due to the use of un-dyed sheep wool.
I have bought CHUP, once from J Crew and again from CHUP, at that time I was able to order the same socks, the wool ones with CHUP written across the toes. This time around I couldn’t find the same socks on the CHUP website, there were no socks with CHUP written across the toe or the same pattern. I know they change their sock patterns so I wasn’t so concerned with that but I felt that also the descriptions were not quit the same, so I wondered if I had even bought the same socks. They arrived last week (BTW great delivery ) and they are slightly different, they are a longer sock with no mention of this so you just have to take what you get. I did order the ones that had wool in the descriptor though and they feel as warm as my previous ones, but only when I go out in minus 20 temps will I know for sure. Thank you
